LAUNCHING CALL FOR COORDINATORS FOR THE ROME CIVIL MONITOR INITIATIVE
The initiative was proposed by the European Parliament and contributes to the implementation of the European Strategic Framework for equality, inclusion and participation, adopted in 2020 and followed by the Recommendation of the Council for the Roma population for measures on equality, inclusion and participation. The project "Preparatory actions - Monitoring by Roma civil society - strengthening the capacity and participation of Roma and pro-Roma civil society in the monitoring and review of public policies" guaranteed by open tender, will be implemented by a consortium of the Central European University (CEU), the European Roma Grassroots Organization Network (ERGO Network), Fundación Secretariat Gitano (FSG) and the European Roma Rights Center (ERRC).
The monitoring exercise by the Roma civil society 2021-2025 is based on the experience from the pilot initiative of the Roma civil society https://cps.ceu.edu/roma-civil-monitor, implemented in the period 2017-2020. The action will be focused on strengthening the capacity of organizations to participate in dialogue and cooperative relations with public authorities responsible for activities aimed at Roma inclusion, equality and the fight against racism and discrimination.
At least 90 organizations (including coordinators), activists and experts from 26 Member States (Malta not included) will be involved. In October, the consortium will publish the first calls for Roma and pro-Roma civil society. For additional information, please follow the page: https://ergonetwork.org/projects/roma-civil-monitor/.
